The Occasion: Gift of Adoption, a national charitable organization that inspires adoption by providing grants to qualified parents, hosted a benefit for the North Shore Committee entitled “Groove for the Gift,” at a home in Winnetka.

The Details: Guests enjoyed a live band, dancing, silent auction, and taking in a summer night under a large white tent set up in the backyard.

The Highlight: Grant recipients Brandon and Mishell Lemons from Wisconsin shared the positive impact of the Illinois chapter’s efforts on their son, Mikias, whom they brought home from Ethiopia last fall.

The Final Tally: More than $30,000 was raised and will go directly to fund adoption assistance grants through the Illinois chapter.
