The Ravinia Associates’ Music Matters Benefit
The Occasion: Under its new name, The Ravinia Associates celebrated at Music Matters (formerly entitled Festa Ravinia) at Venue One in Chicago, with the theme “Passions and Potions,” inspired by Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite.
The VIP: The black-tie evening honored Ravinia trustee and Women’s Board member Emily Knight, who expanded the growth of the festival’s education programs, through her time, energy, and passion for music.
The Highlights: The night included a performance by jazz legends Willie Pickens and Pat Mallinger with the Ravinia Jazz Scholars, and a video tribute to Knight from Ravinia family members who have witnessed her involvement through the years.
The Final Tally: More than $214,000 was raised for Ravinia’s Reach*Teach*Play educational programs, which provided students around Chicago with free music education.
