Its illustrious alumni are respected television, stage, and film actors; some even bona fide movie stars. Once, they were just North Shore kids who loved acting and were fortunate enough to learn how at the Piven Theatre Workshop.
Founded in 1971 by Evanston residents Byrne and Joyce Piven, the tiny Piven Theatre Workshop is now a nationally acclaimed school and professional theater that has trained, nurtured, and mentored generations of students and artists, including Rosanna Arquette, Lara Flynn Boyle, John and Joan Cusack, Jami Gertz, Jeremy Piven, Aidan Quinn, Sarah Ruhl, Lili Taylor, and Kate Walsh.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary this summer, the Piven Theater Workshop will honor a collection of individuals instrumental in its success, including Joyce, Jeremy, and Shira Piven; Nancy, Annie, Joan, and John Cusack; Aidan and Paul Quinn; and more.
Honorees will be on hand for the celebration and reunion, June 25 at the MCA Loft, 1747 W. Hubbard Street in Chicago. The Piven 40th Anniversary Gala will feature dinner, cocktails, and a live auction. Tickets start at $125. Patron and benefactor level tickets will include a VIP champagne reception.
