In Chicago, at the dawn of spring, the chance to rub elbows with some of the area’s greatest antiques collectors, dealers, and enthusiasts can only happen in one place: The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s (RIC) 14th Annual Preview Party celebrating The Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair. A ticket to this premier event held on the evening of April 28 allows a not-yet-open-to-the-public look at the Midwest’s most highly acclaimed antiques show, while raising money for another jewel in Chicago’s crown—RIC.
For the past 14 years, RIC has hosted this elite event, evolving with its ever-changing guests. “Like great antiques and fine wine, some things only get better with time,” explains Wilmette resident Lori Nerenberg, who is co-chairing the event with Mary Arnberg of Chicago. “Each year, we try new ways to engage our dealers and delight our guests while holding on to the tried-and-true tradition and taste that our guests have come to expect,” she explains.
A high expectation level is not a new sentiment when it comes to RIC. For the past 20 years, RIC has distinguished itself as the “Best Rehabilitation Hospital in America” by U.S. News & World Report, and continues to lead the world in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Helping patients regain physical strength after brain or spinal cord trauma, stroke, sports injuries, cancer rehabilitation, or any other physical toll, RIC credits its success on the support and passion of its exceptional people. They operate their 165-bed, flagship hospital in Chicago, and have 34 additional sites of care throughout the Midwest. Events like the Preview Party aid in keeping the care at RIC at a world-class level.
An elegant evening mixed with antique lovers and dealers, the Preview Party is not to be missed. Revenue raised from the purchase of Preview Party tickets provides support to many special programs and services within RIC, including the LIFE Center, Charity Care, the Wirtz Sports Program, and RIC’s clinical research programs. “This party is a tremendous value,” says Arnberg, “considering all the fine wine, food, antiques, atmosphere, and most of all, helping the great cause of RIC.”
The 14th Annual Preview Party is on Thursday, April 28, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The Merchandise Mart. Tickets begin at $150. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact 312-238-6023, or e-mail [email protected]. Tickets may also be purchased online at ric.org or at the door.
