The Resort Report: Retro Chic
The big news this season is the return of the ’70s. Wide leg trousers are back, so are wedge shoes, jumpsuits, safari dresses, and gold jewelry—all of which will work perfectly on your next safari (or whatever adventure you’re planning). Sexy with a slightly masculine edge (à la Bianca Jagger), we think there’s something very appealing about that era of feminine confidence.
Speaking of welcome news, swimwear has become imminently more wearable this season. Our model channeled Sophia Loren to showcase ’60s-inspired swimsuits with sexy halter necklines, figure-flattering rouching, and feminine cuts that provide welcome coverage.
If you’re off to the slopes, it’s all about the fur, the luxe knits, and the cozy après-ski boots. We went back to the ’50s to showcase this season’s retro-cut jackets, glamorous fur hats, and old-school cable knit sweaters. It all adds up to a kind of Grace Kelly elegance that’s simply timeless.
For cruise wear, we went totally “overboard,” showcasing ’80s-style glamour, which is back in a big way. Sequins are no longer just for nighttime anymore, and when it comes to costume jewelry, the bigger the better. Dressed in a red swimsuit and nautical striped blazer with shoulder pads, our model is having an unmistakable Joan Collins kind of moment. Cue the Dynasty theme song.
