The Occasion: Presented by the Women’s Board of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, a capacity audience of 3,500 attended the opening night performance of Verdi’s Macbeth.

The Details: More than 700 guests then proceeded to the Hilton Chicago for the Opera Ball, which included the infamous Grand March, dining, and dancing.

The VIPs: Opening Night Chairman was Mrs. Todd D. Mitchell, Opera Ball chairman was Elizabeth O’Connor Cole, and Women’s Board president is Mrs. Richard W. Durkes, all of Chicago.

The End Result: More than $810,000 was raised for continued operations of the historic Lyric Opera of Chicago.
