The North Shore Board of the Northwestern Settlement
November 6
The Occasion: The North Shore Board of the Northwestern Settlement, comprised of nearly 70 women from Winnetka, Wilmette, Glencoe, Kenilworth, and Chicago, gathered at the Four Seasons in Chicago to raise funds for the House In The Wood Camp, a summer camp for disadvantaged youths.
The Cause: The camp, celebrating its 100th anniversary, has around 350 campers per season, serves children from ages 7 to 17, and offers traditional camp activities to help children develop self-confidence, independence, and problem-solving in a nature-focused environment away from the city.
The VIPs: Gigi Johnson, Lisa Lawson, and Jennifer Stricklin, all from Winnetka, served as the co-chairs, and ABC 7 News’ Ron Magers moderated the live auction for the 15th year in a row.
The End Result: The Board’s “Send a Kid to Camp” drive raised more than $50,000, and both the live and silent auctions raised $20,000 more than last year.
