Lake Forest Open Lands Assocation
September 26
The Occasion: A tradition for many families, Lake Forest Open Lands Association (LFOLA) hosted its signature Bagpipes & Bonfire event, marking the beginning of fall along the North Shore.
The Scene: The Middlefork Farm Nature Preserve on the west side of Lake Forest was transformed into a Scottish playground—from Highland games for the kids, to a cigar and Scotch bar for the adults.
The Highlights: As it is each year, heartstrings are tugged as a lone bagpiper belted out a rendition of “Amazing Grace” before the enormous brush pile was set ablaze at dusk.
The End Tally: Funds raised from the event will go toward the continued preservation and support of LFOLA’s 800 acres of land, six nature preserves, and vast educational programs for children and adults.
