The Friends of the Gorton Community Center
June 26, 2010
The Occasion: The Friends of Gorton, the fund-raising group to what can be considered the heartbeat of Lake Forest—Gorton Community Center—hosted “It Takes Two: The Argentinian Tango” for their 37th annual gala.
The Scene: Held at the 1913 Howard Van Doren Shaw-designed home of Ron and Karena Garriques, waves lapped against the shore as guests dined and danced to the sounds of the Steve Edwards Orchestra under the white tent stretched along the estate’s lawn.
The Highlights: Dancers from the American Tango Institute in Chicago took guests by the hand to show them some extreme dance moves.
The Big Prize: Provided by Knauz Autopark, one lucky raffle prize winner drove away in a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C300.
The Tally: Funds raised went toward programs at the Gorton Community Center.
